RIXO: colorful escapism
We categorically disagree with the statement that all good things come to an end. Even after the coldest winter, a warm and sunny spring comes, and after the rain, a rainbow appears in the sky. Just like the first warm days of March, the British RIXO, which we wrote about a few years ago, returns to the Ogonek Shop collection. It's nice to realize that everything we said about the brand turned out to be true: after four years, we are talking about RIXO no longer as a newcomer, but as a brand that has organically fit into the landscape of hipster cafes, loud bars and even pompous receptions at Buckingham Palace. Yes, yes, there are rumors that the brand is one of the favorites of Princess of Wales Kate Middleton, which is confirmed by numerous paparazzi shots. We, our clients, our clients' friends - all wanted to be a part of this story again. And here we are again.
Who are RIXO?
The brand’s history is simple, linear and light, like the silhouettes of its dresses. RIXO is a fashion adventure that began in 2015 in a London dormitory. Two students, Henrietta Rix and Orla McCloskey, loved vintage so much that they decided to create their own pieces that were destined to become future classics. We all come to classics sooner or later, because if we can find something that will stay with us forever, that’s what’s worth doing.

The founders' wardrobe was filled with flea market finds (which inspired more than one fashion brand in recent years), and each new purchase invariably raised the question: "Where can I find something like this?" Finding no answer, Henrietta and Orla created their own — with four letters: RIXO.
Unlike classic startups (even in the supposedly strict creative world of fashion), Henrietta and Orla started without a clear business plan, focusing on how their things would look and be worn in real life. This is a question that often arises for those who follow fashion. We look at the catwalk looks with admiration, but then the realization comes: where to wear it? And the point is not that there are not enough gala dinners and premieres in our lives - fashion should be a part of everyday life. This is a trip to the office, and a Sunday breakfast on the balcony, and a casual date in a cafe. The British brand manages to make fashion not only beautiful, but also meaningful: their looks have both hippie bohemianism, and old Hollywood femininity, and a light touch of London eclecticism.

The founders of RIXO relied on a human approach to style and were not mistaken. The brand appeared at a time when fashion was divided into two opposing camps: street style, which challenged traditional canons, and northern minimalism, which adapted the rigor of couture styles to everyday life. Both trends combined comfort, but they lacked one important element - color. RIXO filled this gap: taking the relaxation of street style and the versatility of styles from minimalism, the designers filled them with juicy, gouache colors. This is how things appeared that you want to wear, love and pass on.
The 70s, but without the nostalgia
The brand's DNA is bright colors, often with floral motifs, as if straight from the 70s. But in the case of RIXO, it's not just retro styling, but a rethinking of the spirit of that era in a modern context. The 70s are not only about vintage aesthetics, it's about freedom, experimentation and the rejection of rigid rules. It was an era when fashion ceased to be simply functional and became a form of self-expression. This is the principle that underlies RIXO. Their dresses are created for women who appreciate romance, but are not afraid of boldness, love vintage, but look to the future. Just as in the case of street style and minimalism, RIXO's philosophy is to take the best from different aesthetics and at the same time remain themselves. The floral patterns in their dresses not only symbolize a connection with nature and tenderness, but also demonstrate the courage to be bright, noticeable. Boldness to be truly alive.

Each of us has our own secret talents - someone remembers all the capitals of the world, someone can distinguish the voices of birds, and RIXO designers have the gift of finding new and new color combinations that are not repeated. Looking at the floral motifs of their dresses, one recalls a quote by Henri Matisse: "For an artist-creator, there is nothing more difficult than to draw a rose, because first he must forget all the roses drawn before." It seems that RIXO has the memory of a goldfish - each of their "roses" is never similar to the previous one, but at the same time they become more and more beautiful with each collection.
Recession core
Historically, in times of economic, political, or social hardship, people instinctively seek brightness elsewhere. Often, that place is art—fashion, music, film, and anything that helps us channel our anxieties. RIXO is to fashion what recessionary pop is to music—bright, tactile escapism.

“Recession pop” is a relatively new term used to describe upbeat pop music that becomes popular during times of economic uncertainty. This music is characterized by energetic beats and simple, lighthearted lyrics, allowing people to forget their worries for a moment and feel joy even in difficult times.
RIXO’s signature floral prints and fluid silhouettes evoke the same joyful rebelliousness that fueled the glitter-and-neon energy of artists like Kesha and Lady Gaga in the late 2000s, or the psychedelic hippie wave of the 60s and 70s. If recessionary pop music gives people a reason to dance, RIXO gives them an outfit in which to twirl in that dance.

Amidst all the chaos, exhaustion, and short-term trends of recent years, RIXO remains a point of support—a stability in the turbulent world of the industry. Their message is simple: live at your own pace, not under the pressure of other people's expectations. Being "cool" is no longer cool.
True value is inner joy, and RIXO understands this like no other. Even when everything around us seems heavy, fashion reminds us to seek lightness wherever possible. Very often this lightness is already within us, and RIXO floral motifs help us find it.
